…and another thing!

Lately, I have found myself lacking in time. I never have enough time to do all the things I need to do, let alone the things I want to do.

I am running behind on all sorts of projects. I haven’t read any of my buddies’ blogs in weeks. I’ve been planning to update this website (exciting new stuff, but it’s a secret) for weeks.

Not to mention that lately my Jason and I have been eating easy food every night. Unfortunately, easy food is not always healthy food. And, I have not gone for a single walk all summer, and last year my Jason and I walked at least 45 minutes a night at least 3 nights a week.

It’s an incredibly frustrating situation.

knitting

I made a mitten over the weekend. I would have made two mittens, but the mitten was WAY too big for the intended recipient.

Reason why the mitten was too big:
1. I did not have the right sized needles, so I used ones I had that are 1 size larger. I knew this would throw off the gauge, and I was okay with that. Most of the instructions were to make wenough rows to equal X inches, so really width was going to be the real issue.
2. The worsted weight yarn I used was slightly chunkier than worsted weight yarn usually is; I knew this would pose a slight issue.
3. The pattern I followed was for small/medium mittens, since there are no standard sizes in mittens (unlike shoes/slippers/socks) I had to assume that small/medium would fit the person I was knitting for; I think if all other variables had been eliminated, I would have wound up with roomy mittens. Given that the gauge was off due to larger needles AND chunkier yarn, I am not shocked that I ended up with a mitten that was way too big.

Yesterday evening, we went to Walmart. I bought the right needles for the pattern. I also got some other needles for other projects that I had to set aside because I did not have the right needles. Tonight, I’ll try the mittens project again.

manic monday #131 - my 7th edition

manicmondaymeme.blogspot.com

If you could take more control of one aspect of your life, what would it be?
I’d love to have better control over my emotional reactions.

If you were to name the difference between the male soul and the female soul, what would it be?
I think every soul is unique and individual, I’m reluctant to make such a broad generalization.

If you had to admit the most selfish thing you do on a regular basis, what would you say it is?
I sometimes get insomnia. Not frequently enough to be a real problem, but often enough that it is not a rare occurance. There are times when I am so frustrated by my inability to sleep that I wake my partner - because I can’t stand the idea that he is asleep while I cannot sleep.

this has nothing to do with jewellery, but…

Check this out, scroll down to the bottom to Gabe’s “PAX 2008″ post.

I love this. Not only is it a dinosaur - more extreme than sharks - but it’s in space, and it’s packing heat (look at the right paw? hand? whatever!).
